Awards Season 2010
Ok so…
I was almost perfect on the NL side, the only miss was when [That Guy I cant remember] won the Manager of the Year, but I had no problem with it. All NL awards were smart…
…the AL side meanwhile………….not so much.
The exception would be Ron Gardenhire for MotY, in a year of no great stand out managers, that was the smart choice. I still wouldve liked to see Showalter win, but he would deserve it 100% if he can can work his magic and make the Orioles not suck for an entire year, as opposed to just half of a year.
Everyone else in the AL can go suck a dick.
ALRoY? Yeah, but what alternative was there? The NLRoY was debatable, but what competition was there in the AL? Pass.
Hernandez for Cy Young? Wow. Really? Show me all the “New age” stats you want, Ill counter with 13 wins and 12 losses.
Only 13 wins is excusable. But 13 wins being matched by 12 losses shows you werent much worth to your team.
There needs to be a different pitching award. For hitting, theres the Hank Aaron award (best offensive player) and then theres the MVP (I shouldnt have to define this). Best stats dont always equal most value (something the AL voters f*cked up again this year) Or maybe make pitchers have as much right to the MVP award like they used to.
As it is, Cy Young is the pitchers MVP, but voters rely on stats more than value. You can have more strikeouts and a better ERA than all of baseball, but if it made no difference to your team, than what value was there? Same applies to Wins. You can have 25 wins, but if your team never even had a chance at October, than all 25 wins were of 0 value.
With or without Hernandez, Seattle wouldve still finished dead last. Sure, he had a great ERA, but a truly valuable pitcher always finds a way to win for his team, or at the very least not lose. 12 losses means you were very human at times. 13-12 means you made 0 impact for your teams playoff chances. 13-7 would be a different story, as would 19-12, but a near .500 record means you had little value.
You take Sabathia or Price out of the picture for their teams, and each one of them wouldve fallen out of October. The Yankees and the Rays wouldve had a hard time making the playoffs if not for their aces. Mariners were screwed either way with theirs.
Speaking of valueless…the AL made laughable decisions again this year in their MVP ballots. Im not gonna say much on this cuz Id prolly be repeating myself from last year, but AL voters must wanna grow up to be writers for Disney, cuz theyve made it a trend lately of handing the MVP to the “feel good story” over the more deserving man.
…actually I AM gonna say something. Josh Hamilton shouldnt be playing in Texas. Its a bad enviorment for him. A recovering addict with a coke-head manager? Yeah, recipe for trouble.
…and the 2010 turtle-wax award goes to…
Im not the 1st to say this, and far more important people have said it, and Im sure the people at FOX are thinking it:
Giants and Rangers world series? Who is gonna watch that?
…though the 49ers and Cowboys both suck bad this year, so the respective cities care, but thats it…
So while the remaining 95% of the sporting world hit offseason mode, its time that we award the awards that need awarding…and Im still waiting on that sponsor…
Again, these are the awards you DONT want to win…
The “You dont belong here” award
-Awarded to 1 of the 8 playoff teams that shouldn’t be in the playoffs
(previous winner: 2009 Minnesota Twins)
The Texas Rangers
This was a tough one since the top 4 teams in each league were also the playoff teams. The Rangers pulled off a 90-72 record this year, one game better than the 89-73 Red Sox. But seeing how the Red Sox had to deal with the Yankees, Rays, Blue Jays and even the Showalter Orioles…while the Rangers dealt with the AL west, Im inclined to believe that the Red Sox’s 89 wins carry way more weight than the Rangers 90 wins. The Rangers sucked, but they played in a sucky division and had Cliff Lee. If baseball ran like the BCS, Rangers would be home, not in the world series.
The “Sucks to be you” award
-Awarded to the team going home with a better record than a playoff team
(previous winner: 2009 Texas Rangers)
The San Diego Padres
Do I really need to justify this? Simply put, it sucked to be a Padre this year. HUGE lead in the west, then a nasty 10 game slide, then the slow, inevitable fall into nothing. Sad…so, so sad. They finished at 90-72, same as the Rangers but the NL west was a tougher division. Again, Padres wins carry more weight.
The “Orioles and Blue Jays would rather play in this division” award
-Awarded to the crappiest division in baseball
(previous winner: 2009 AL Central)
The American League West Division: Rangers, Angels, Mariners, Athletics
With the Blue Jays having a good year for the first time in a while, it sure was tough for them to remember that they play in the AL east. If they played in the west, they wouldve been no brainer 2nd place finishers. Add a few more wins since theyd be playing the Angels and not the Red Sox…and the Mariners instead of the Yankees…with that math, they mightve won the west or at least give the Rangers a run for their money. Only the Rangers finished above .500 in the division. All other divisions have at least 2 teams above water. Hell, every other division was able to produce at least 2 teams with over 85 wins.
-Honorable mention goes to the NL Central since they were pretty bad too, but they had 2 teams above .500 and above 85 wins.
The “steroid accusation rookie of the year” award
-Awarded to the slugger who is probably gonna get accused of steroids next, if not already
(I am NOT accusing the winner of steroids. I’m just saying he’s probably gonna get scrutinized next)
(previous winner: 2009 Aaron Hill)
Corey Hill of the Milwaukee Brewers
2010 HR total: 31
Previous high: 24 in 2007
I was all set to award Jose Bautista this award, but hes already dealing with steroid b!tching, and the spirit of this award is to figure whos most likely next. Otherwise Big Floppi would win every year.
Not a huge jump for Hart, but pretty noticable since he only had 20 in 157 games in 2008.
The “What the hell happened to you?” award
-Awarded to the team that fell off the map when they were suppose to be contenders
(previous winner: 2009 New York Mets)
The Seattle Mariners
They had Cliff Lee, they had King Felix, they had Suzuki…seriously, what the hell Seattle? You were suppose to be the new kings of the west.
The “Shut your God damn mouth!” award
-Awarded to whoever apparently talked too much during spring training
(previous winner: 2009 Chicago Cubs)
MLB Network
I wanna say it was either Peter Gammons and Harold Reynolds, but I remember watching MLB Network in the spring when they were breaking down the AL east and they were all but handing the Red Sox the division because of their “amazing” focus on pitching and defense. Thats all they could talk about: The Red Sox have great pitching and defense.
Well, not only did the Red Sox not even make the playoffs, but the pitching and defense forgot to show up this year. They were a terrible team defensively and their rotation crumbled. John Lackey didnt really pan out and most starters were either hurt of useless.
Good job MLB Network, you sure did pick a winner.
The “This years miracle, next years Rays” award
-Awarded to the team that made a suprise playoff run this year, and will fall well short next year
(previous winner: 2009 Colorado Rockies)
The Tampa Bay Rays
I was gonna rename this award every year in honor of the team that did indeed fall short, but seeing how the 2010 Rays are a doomsday prediction in wait, I figure the name should stick for now. The Rays are gearing up for a huge budget cut…and seeing how they didnt have much of a budget to begin with should bring fears to more than a few Rays fans. the 1998 Marlins come to mind of what happens when a budget cut hits a team after a postseason run.
The “This years Nationals, next years miracle” award
-Awarded to the team that sucked this year, but can make a run next year
(previous winner: 2009 Chicago White Sox)
Chicago White Sox
Dont be fooled, the White Sox wouldve won the central if the Twins were playing like 2009, not 2010. I still like their chances with Ozzie at the helm. and with the Rays dying off, thats one less tought team to deal with for the playoff run.
This is probably the best award to win, and the White Sox defended it, meaning theyre clearly not doing good enough. Congrats, youre still mediocre!
The “AAA team is disguise” award
-Awarded to the team that might have better luck in AAA
(previous winner: Washington Nationals)
The Pittsburgh Pirates
They were out after the 1st pitch was thrown. 18 strait years of losing isnt the best way to avoid this award.
The “Dull knife in the drawer” award
-Awarded to the biggest mental error this year
(previous winner: Washington Nati(o)nals)
President Barak Obama
He walked out to opening day in DC to throw out the 1st pitch…sporting a White Sox cap. Pretty stupid, but forgivable if he could at least name 1 White Sox player in history. Too bad he didnt.
I talked about this in more detail earlier in the year. Obama, you win this award for talking when you have no idea what youre talking about. Congrats, dumba$$!
The “Results may vary” award
-Awarded to a player/team that didnt live up to the hype
Stephen Strasburg
To a certain degree, he did live up to the hype. But seeing how the hype surrounding Strasburg was that he would revitalize a crappy DC team into pennent chasers, he didnt quite produce, especially since he wont even be pitching until 2012 at the earliest. At least he was everything and more for all those minor league teams he played for this year.
Week 22 in review: Good-bye, Boston
How far back are they? 10 games? Can they really win 10 more games than the Yankees this month? No, no they cant. But once again they face the Rays in a series, meaning either they win and climb closer in the standings, or the Rays win and continue to breathe down out encks so Im not sure who to root for.

Biggest Yankee Game:
9/2/10: Yankees-5, Athletics-0
C. Cy Sabathia was just nasty, making the A’s his own and becomming the 1st pitcher in baseball to 19 wins. Cy Young anyone?
Favorite Picture:
Nyjer Morgan had ideas about starting a fist fight, Gabby Sanchez had other ideas. BAM! Clothsline! Morgan on his rear!
Fantasy:
Showdown: (8-14) 5th in division. 8 games back of 1st, 3 games back of 4th, 1 game up on last.
-Eliminated from playoffs.
…and the great multi-owner experiment fails miserably.
Pretenders: (69 pts) 6th in division. 28pts back of 1st, 3pts back of 5th, 8pts up on 7th.
cpDOOM! 2.0: (14-8) 2nd in division. 3 games back of 1st, 2 games up on 3rd.
-Eliminated for division, Currently holding the 3 seed for playoffs, very close to clinching.
Roid Sox: (12-10) t-1st in division. 1 game up on 3rd.
-Currently in playoff picture, but need to win this week to keep in there.
F*cking Lozers:
Semi-finals: (2) F*cking Lozers vs the 6 seed.
I’m hoping to ride the hot streaks of Marcus Thames and Wandy Rodriguez and hoping Tim Lincecums last start is the sign that hes finally returning to his former glory.
The other guy pulled off a 8-5 upset over the 3 seed and has an equally impressive lineup that includes Joey Votto and Sabathia.
The only lock of a statistic is stolen bases in my favor what with Juan Pierre, Michael Bourn and Brett Gardner patroling my outfield.
Will I finally advance to the finals this year, or will it be 3 strait years of semi-failure?
Next Week:
Baltimore and Texas. Theres no reason for us to not be in 1st after playing these two…
Initiate the countdown!
Well look at what month it is! Time to start thinking of magic numbers and playoff scenarios! Lets take a look at who is mathmaticly left in each division race…
AL bEAST
New York Yankees
Tampa Bay Rays (1.5 out)
Boston Red Sox (8.5 out)
Toronto Blue Jays (15 out)
Currently, Torontos elimination number (13) is smaller than their games back (15) and unless the east bacomes the AL Central, then the Jays are out of the playoffs. The Yankees currently hold onto the small lead after setting a record with the Rays for longest time tied for 1st, so those 2 are expected to come away with the east and wild card, leaving Boston in a hopless situation. But where the BoSox fall short in talent and brains, they more than make up for in desire, so they wont go anywhere. Dont expect that season finale against the Yankees to mean anything though except for a chance to play spoilers.
Meanwhile, the Orioles can take solace in the fact that thanks to Buck Showalter, they are no longer anywhere near the Mets all time single season loss record.
AL CENTRAL
Minnesota Twins
Chicago White Sox (4 out)
Detroit Tigers (12 out)
Kansas city Royals (21 out)
Cleveland Indians (24 out)
It seems that a 1 game playoff is expected out of this division this year thanks to the last few years. Will it feature a rematch of 2008 (CWS vs MIN), or of 2009 (MIN vs DET) or a new matchup (CWS vs DET). $5 says Detroit would win that game, if only to give this all a rock/paper/scissors vibe to it.
Realistically speaking, the tigers are a mile behind, the White Sox are recharged thanks to Manny (not his bat, just Manny being there). Is it Minnesotas turn to choke with the lead this year? anything is possible with this division!
Elsewhere, the Royals can sure get used to this whole “not finishing last” thing. Remember Royals fans: once upon a time the Devil Rays were thanking God that they finished as high as 4th, then they found out how to win and won the division eventually.
AL WEST
Texas Rangers
Oakland Athletics (10 out)
California Los Angeles Anaheim Angels of Anaheim (10.5 out)
Seattle Mariners (23 out)
Yeah…Texas is winning this time. If youre in a division where the 2nd place team is under .500, how can you NOT win?
AL WILD CARD
Tampa Bay Rays
Boston Red Sox (7 out)
Chicago White Sox (9 out)
Toronto Blue Jays (13 out)
Detroit Tigers/Oakland A’s (17 out)
California Los Angeles Anaheim Angels of Anaheim (17.5 out)
Kansas City Royals (26 out)
Cleveland Indians (29 out)
Lets rename the AL WC into the AL East+White Sox cuz thats all it really is. Hell, all non east teams are there to show just how dominating the division is cuz all those teams are closer to their own division leader then they are to the 2nd place team in the east. Heck, the 3rd place east team (Boston) would be tied with the Rangers for the west!
NL EAST
Atlanta Braves
Philadelphia Phillies (3 out)
Florida Marlins (10.5 out)
New York Mets (13 out)
Washington Nationals (21.5 out)
Man, the Phillies sure long for the days when all they had to do was catch the Mets in this division. Now they have to topple a legit team in order to steal away this division. Such is the life…
Also, if the Braves win the division this year. Expect Chipper Jones next year to announce that he’ll retire at the end of the year so that the team might get inspired to win like they did this year for Cox.
NL CENTRAL
Cincinnati Reds
St. Louis Cardinals (8 out)
Houston Astros/Milwaukee Brewers (16 out)
Chicago Cubs (21.5 out)
“Where the f*ck did these guys come from?” is probably what every Cardinals player and fan has been saying under their breath for the last few months. Reds have been doing great before Chapman came up, so imagine how good theyll do now. Seriously, imagine 2007 Yankees when Joba first came in throwing pure fire. yeah, division champs!
NL WEST
San Diego Padres
San Francisco Giants (3 out)
Colorado Rockies (7 out)
Los Angeles Dodgers (9 out)
Arizona Diamondbacks (22 out)
Padres are just thankful they they had such a big lead. This insane losing streak of theirs cost them a lot, but so far theyre still #1 in the west. Its given the rest of the division hope though.
NL WILD CARD
Philadelphia Phillies
San Francisco Giants (1.5 back)
St. Louis Cardinals (5 out)
Colorado Rockies (5.5 out)
Florida Marlins/LA Dodgers (7.5 out)
New York Mets (10 out)
Hoston Astros/Milwaukee Brewers (13 out)
Chicago Cubs/DC Nationals (18.5 out)
Arizona Diamondbacks (20.5 out)
See what happens when there isnt an AL east type division? This could go to anyone. 6 teams within 10 games. Hell, theres 4 teams within 6 games compared to the 0 teams within 6 games in the AL WC.
Week 17 in review: Tweaking the predictions
Alright alright. 2 months left in the year and the Yankees just retooled their roster for the stretch run.
Originally I said: Yankees, White Sox, Mariners, Phillies, Cardinals, Giants for each division as well as something random for each wild card. Time to tweak my predictions for the stretch run.
I still think the Yankees, White Sox, Cardinals and Giants will win their divisions.
I, as well as most people, lost money on the whole Mariners-are-back-this-year thing. Rangers are a damn lock for the win.
In the NLeast? I dunno…guess I’ll roll with the Mets….becaus f*ck you, thats why!
Reds and Rays for the wild cards. No one should be questioning that.
No Red Sox? No…sucks to be them in this division…they suck this year anyway. Wow, walk off wins against Detroits tired bullpen. amazing. PASS.
No Padres? If the high point of your team is your bullpen, something must be wrong.
No Braves? Yeah, I might regret that. But no, I doubt theyll hold. 2 months can be a long time.
No Phillies? They gave this year away when they traded Cliff Lee…Oswalt isnt exactly a great replacment…
Biggest Yankee Game:
7/30/10: Rays-3, Yankees-2
Great game pitched by Hughes except for the 1 mistake that allowed the Rays to win on. Just goes to show you how close every game is and just why these two are the best in baseball. Boston should start thinking about next year.
Favorite Picture:
Cleveland fans arent exactly thrilled that their only chance they had at a championship in any sport signed away to another team (so he could actually win a championship) and dont take kindly for any reminders about the whole thing.
Fantasy:
Regular season is beginning to wind down in fantasy. Do any of my teams stand a chance?
Showdown: 5th place in division. 6 games out of 1st, 2 games back of 4th, 2 games up on last place.
-If the season ended today-no playoff berth.
If they were in the other division, theyde be in 3rd place.
Pretenders: tied-6th. 25 points out of 1st, .5 points back of 5th, 6.5 points up on 8th.
-I dont think this league does playoffs.
cpDOOM! 2.0: 2nd place. 3 games out of 1st, 1 game up on 3rd.
-If the season ended today-no playoff berth.
Currently 44 points behind last playoff seeded team.
F*cking Lozers: tied-2nd in division. 18 games out of 1st. 1 game up on 4th.
-If the season ended today-Currently sitting on the 3 seed, but Id rather have the 2 seed, which comes with a bye-week.
The Roid Sox: tied-1st in division. 75 points back of the leader. 1 game up on 3rd.
If the season ended today-Sitting on the 3 seed as well, but poised to pull off the upset.
Not bad.
This Week:
We head home to face the Blue Jays and the Red Sox.
Trades?
Even with Pettitte down, Hughes’ hiccups and Dr AJ Jekyll/Mr Hyde Burnett doing what he does, the Yankees still have the best rotation in baseball, so long as CC keeps winning, Vazquez hold on and Mitre proves to be a solid fill-in. Our lineup is always potent, so theres no real need to fill any non-existant holes. So as the trade deadline looms, our old friend, the bullpen, is what needs the most help.
Why?
Joba is shakey, and I dont trust him with a slim lead late…I cringe when Park takes the mound, Mitre is now a starter, Aceves is out with no sign of returning, Marte is out as well while Im afraid of seeing Robertson take the hill and Gaudin hasnt exactly been a beacon of light.
Theres Mo. But while the 9th inning is, as always, a no doubter-the 7th and 8th are pretty much up in the air, especially when October comes.
Our only decent AAA guy, Albaladejo, is currently on roster thanks to Pettittes injury so the only real option is to turn to the trade market and see whos offering…and unlike Seattle, we should look for people who are serious about trading with us.
-Toronto: Scott Downs, Kevin Gregg
So the Blue Jays hot start is only a memory and theyre tossin up the white flag on the season, content knowing at least 4th place isnt dead last…and theyre movin their bullpen.
Downs is another Marte apparently, but with Marte hurt, why the hell not.
Gregg is a guy with closer exp, but with Mo, he can translate that exp into an 8th inning situation, which contains just as much pressure because the 8th inning against the Yankees might as well be the 9th because you sure as hell aint beating Rivera.
So I hope the Yankees go for Gregg, because he wouldnt be any worse than what we already have…though dealing with the Blue Jays is always an infuriating ordeal (“We want ALL your prospects for our one pitcher”)
-Cleveland: Kerry Wood
I know, I know, this screams “Carl Pavano” what with his high price tag and extremely-prone-to-injury history. But, like Pavano, Wood can be lights out when healthy. Hes had a rough start in Cleveland, but hes been picking it up lately.
…Lets just save him for the July 31-better-than-nothing plan.
-Kansas City: Joakim Soria
I might as well entertain this idea…though I feel the Royals might be a tad bit mad to offer him up, and the price tag wouldnt be small. To be fair, he would be the best guy available and a no-brainer 8th inning and a Mo-needs-a-day-off-so-let-someone-else-close.
-Kyle Farnsworth
…just kidding. I like him, but he just cant cut it…
Week 14 in review: Half 1 in review
Like I said when I closed out yesterdays post. Yankees are in 1st and Boston isnt exactly breathing down our necks, all is well in the world. The Yankees have a ******** 8 players nemed to the All Star game and Nick Swishers gearing up to win the home run derby.
Unlike the last few years, the Yankees decided to forgo their usual slump in the early months and are now sitting on the majors best record (56-32) which included a season high 7 game winning streak last week, and are well on their way to yet another 100 win season. And whats also the best is: no more west coast trips this year. Texas is as far west as we’re gonna get this year from here on out, unless we face a west coast team in October.
All in all, the Yankees are well on their way to yet another division title this year, but what about my other predictions?
I said: Yankees, White Sox, Mariners, Phillies, Cardinals, Giants (in each respective division)
So yeah, I may want to change up a couple of those, which Ill do when I go into detail about all that in a later post.
Biggest Yankee Game
7/10/10: Mariners-4, Yankees-1
Our lone loss last week? Why point that out? Because I think it shows that our true need is in the bullpen. We never needed Cliff Lee, even Vazquez is pitching great so why fix what aint broken? Joba isnt right, he really never was this year. That grand slam he surrendered was just the exclemation point to the issue. Joba is 1-4 with a 5.79era….we need a somewhat more reliable reliever, at least until Aceves returns.
Favorite Picture
…RIP Voice of God
Fantasy
Lets see how all my teams are doing, and how much a*s they are (*not) kicking…
The Pretenders: 7th place (Point value of 73.5) Currently 2.5 points out of 3rd place, 15.5 points out of 1st.
The F*cking Lozers: 2nd place (91-77-14) Currently 5 games out of 1st.
The Roid Sox: 2nd place (8-6) Currently 2 games out of 1st.
The Showdown: 5th place* (6-8) Currently 2 games out of 2nd, 4 games out of 1st.
*-Woo-hoo! No longer dead last!
cpDOOM2.0: 2nd place (8-6) Currently 4 games out of 1st.
This Week
All star break. Half the Yankees head to Anaheim to help continue the ALs dominating run. Afterwards, they all head home to deal with the Rays and kick off the 2nd half.
Closin out the 1st half
Bob Sheppard is gone. The greatest voice in the history of sports…ever…died today. He will live on however, with every Derek Jeter at bat.
In other news, apparently the Yankees wanted Cliff Lee. Though by the time I realized they seriously wanted him, the Mariners threw their cards on the table and showed it was only a ploy to get the Rangers to hand over 4 prospects.
Ya see, the Ms wanted more than what the Rangers were offering, so they pretended to deal with the Yankees in order to force Texas’ hand and get the deal they wanted. I can see why Texas took the bait. Every damn time they make the playoffs, they get the Yankees in round 1, and every time the Yankees knock em out en route to a world championship, so why not bring in Lee to tip the odds?
The Yankees, meanwhile, were prepared to offer Jesus Montero, which made no god damm sense, why would we be parting with our best prospect when we already have 3 bona fide all star pitchers? I think our deadline attention would be better spent looking to shore up our bullpen, because Im sick of getting sick whenever Joba or Robertson come in and blow a close game.
…and how awesome is it that Lee losses his 1st game as a Ranger.
Elsewhere, Robinson Cano was yanked out of the home run derby by the Yankees, but fear not, they replaced him with Nick Swisher, so its all good.
Speaking of Nick…
Nick Swisher won the final vote!
Id like to think that “narrow margin” was made possible by the 463435654 votes I made the night before voting closed.
So Yankee Haters, you have me to thank for Swisher making the cut over those lesser hitters. Be sure to thank me when he goes deep in the game.
Anyway, Yankees close out the 1st half with a win against the Lee-less Mariners. I need to adjust my predictions now that Seattle is clearly out.
Best record in baseball? 1st place in the division? Boston a mile behind? Awesome!
Week 13 in review: All Star tweaking
Lets take a moment to single out all the Yankees on this years All Star team.
-Derek Jeter. As always, one of the best shortstops in the AL. The no-brainer pick to win the vote.
-Robinson Cano. The best 2B in all of baseball. Again, a no-brainer selection.
-C.C. Sabathia. Good 1st half, though he wont play if he pitches on Sunday against the Mariners.
-Phil Hughes. One of the best 1st halfs of any AL pitcher. Should be a no-brainer to start if not for his recent streak of high ERA.
-Alex Rodriguez. Only injuries could stop him from being an All Star, and this year he was healthy (thus far *knock on wood*)
-Mariano Rivera. Best closer in history. Always gets the save for the AL. The man probably has a lifetime roster spot reserved for him.
-Andy Pettitte. Thats right b!tches. Pettittes an All Star. Replacing an injured person, but he was gonna be an All Star anyway for the beforementioned Sabathia thing. That was Girardis plan all along, or so he claimed. Though, I dont see why he couldve had a Red Sox pitcher replace Sabathia, forcing Jon Lester to wait until the last minute out of spite…
-Nick Swisher (as soon as he wins the final vote thing). Because I said so…
Biggest Yankee Game:
7/4/10: Yankees-7, Blue Jays-6, 10 innings
Holy crap. That game went back and forth and back and forth the whole damn time. Jays by a run, Yanks by 2, then its Jays by 2, then Gardner hits a 2 run inside the park homer to tie it up, Yanks take a 1 run lead into the 9th, Jays touch Rivera up to tie it up again, then Thames literally comes up off the DL to win it for us in the 10th. DeWayne Wise prolly has more than a few mixed moments from the whole game himself…
Momentum building win for the Yankees, making them the first 50 win team in baseball…while the Blue Jays slip below .500
I think its officially over for them this year. Though God dammit a few more key additions for them and they can contend long term…

During the Yankees 6-1 loss to the Blue Jays over the weekend, Chan Ho Park came in and was anything but effective. During that outing, he hits Aaron Hill with a pitch and knocks him over, to which the Yankees announcer, Michael Kay says “…and Chan Ho Parks Aaron Hill.” Which I laughed at for a while. I couldnt find a picture or video of it, so heres a pic of Park from that very game, which is the best I can give you right now…

This Week:
West coast trip time. Lots of 10oClock games for me. At the A’s and at the Mariners.
…BTW, Sundays game was the official half way point in the schedule. 50 wins already? I smell another 100 win season!
Week 12 in review: There should be a dozen Yankees in Anaheim
So Ive got about 12 more online votes to submit for the all star game, and the Yankees have about 12 players deserving of roster spots. Which players deserve it?
Andy Pettitte should be starting the game.
Phil Hughes and CC Sabathia should join Mo Rivera in the bullpen.
Jeter and Cano should win their respective positions.
Mark Teixeira might get a nod. If he doesnt win the vote, then as a 3rd 1st baseman.
Yes, Cervelli. He wont win the vote at catcher, but theres no other deserving catcher in the AL once Mauers off the table.
Longoria’ll win at 3rd….but then theres ARod. Why? Because its Girardis call.
Swishers gotta make the bench for the squad.
Including Girardi that would make….11…….well, factor in a bench coach and that makes 12.
Biggest Yankee Game:
6/27/10: Yankees-8, Dodgers-6, 10 Innings
Come-back-baby! Series-win! Future starting all star Robinson Cano won it with the homer! Way to end 2010 interleague play.
Favorite Picture:
The collapse of the 2010 Tampa Bay Rays? Mayyyyyyyybe?
Fantasy:
All my MLB.com teams lost close games. Its really annoying when your teams all do decent and its all for nothing…
The F*cking Lozers are sittin back in 1st place in the Yahoo league, so it all kinda evens out, especially since the Pretenders are sitting right in the middle of the standings…
This Week:
The Yankees host the Mariners and Blue Jays this week before shipping out west to wrap up the 1st half.
